REFUND & RETURNS POLICY
Last updated: August 2026
At Darlington Estate Jewellery, we take great care in selecting, inspecting and accurately describing every piece in our collection. As our jewellery is predominantly pre-loved, vintage and antique, individual pieces may show signs of previous wear and age.
Change of Mind
We do not offer refunds, returns or exchanges simply because you have changed your mind, selected the wrong item or decided that the jewellery is not suitable for you. We encourage customers to carefully review photographs, measurements, weights, descriptions and condition information before purchasing.
If you require additional information or photographs before purchasing, please contact us.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

Pre-Loved, Vintage & Antique Jewellery
Our jewellery is pre-loved unless otherwise stated. Individual pieces may have characteristics associated with age and previous use, including:
-
minor scratches or surface marks
-
signs of wear
-
patina
-
age-related discolouration
-
small imperfections
-
previous repairs or alterations
-
variations in colour or finish.
Where we are aware of significant condition issues, repairs, alterations or damage, we aim to disclose these in the product description. Condition that has been accurately disclosed before purchase does not constitute an undisclosed fault.
Jewellery Descriptions
We take care to accurately describe materials, gemstones, metal purity, measurements, weight, condition and other characteristics based on the information and testing reasonably available to us. Where a gemstone, diamond, age, maker, origin or treatment cannot be independently confirmed, we will describe it accordingly.
Faulty, Misdescribed or Non-Conforming Items
If you believe an item has a fault, has been materially misdescribed or otherwise does not meet the consumer guarantees that apply to your purchase, please contact us.
Please provide:
-
your order number or proof of purchase
-
a description of the issue
-
photographs where appropriate
-
any other information reasonably required to assess the issue.
We may ask that the jewellery be returned for inspection before determining the appropriate remedy. We will assess the issue in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and the circumstances of the individual purchase.
Return of Jewellery for Assessment
If we ask you to return an item for assessment, we will provide return instructions.
Please do not send jewellery back without contacting us first.
Returned jewellery should be securely packaged and, where appropriate, sent using a tracked service. Where the return relates to a problem covered by the Australian Consumer Law, we will meet reasonable return costs where required by law.
Original Condition
Where a return is accepted for a reason other than a consumer-guarantee claim, the jewellery should be returned in the condition in which it was supplied, together with any original packaging, certificates or documentation provided. This requirement does not limit rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Refunds
Where a refund is required, it will generally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed or required by law. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.
Damage or Alteration After Purchase
We are not responsible for damage caused after purchase through misuse, accidental damage, inappropriate care, alterations, repairs or work carried out by another jeweller or third party. This does not affect rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
